Going Green!

WHAT IS GOING GREEN?  This is one of the new trends in building and buying a home which just means being environmental conscious and building energy efficient homes. WHY GO GREEN?  You can save energy and money is the top reason consumers choose green building these days.  Another reason  The typical house loses 15 to 20 percent of its heat or air-conditioning leakage from ducts alone, according the US Environmental Protection Agency and US Department of Energy.  So energy conscious construction can significantly reduce that waste. Building materials such as straw-bale, insulated concrete forms, and designs that maximize exposure to winter sun and minimize summer heat.  Also, using energy efficient appliances and water-conserving fixtures can cause you more up front as far as costs, but pay for themselves within the first 2-3 years. So, if you are in the process of building, ask your contractor what you can do to BUILD GREEN!!!
