Building Green

Thinking of building a new home or updating your present one?  Take a look at the new "green" bathroom and kitchen products available -- you won't believe the changes!  Dual-flush toilets which limit the gpf from 0.8 to 1.6; great filtration systems for kitchen faucets; cast iron sinks made of 93% recycled materials.  Back in the picture are also all metal cabinets (like Granny had) -- updated to contain 70% recycled materials and when you change your kitchen the next time, they are 98% recyclable!  Bamboo now comes in 4' x 6' sheets for use in cabinetry and furniture -- there are even lathe-turned bamboo sinks which reportedly last for years!  There's a 72" freezer/refrigerator/refrigerator which fits under your counters touted to use no more energy than a 44-watt light bulb and dishwashers which use steam, along with hot water, to clean the dishes -- saving up to 2400 gallons of water over it's lifetime.  Decisions, decisions!  Who would have thought that some tree huggers (I love them!) back in the '70s would have generated these great energy saving products?
